Instacart Expands International Presence Through Acquisition of Instaleap
Instacart announced on April 14, 2026, that it has acquired Instaleap, a fulfillment and enablement platform, to accelerate its international growth. The Instacart Instaleap acquisition allows the company to expand its enterprise services into nearly 30 countries across Europe, the Middle East, Africa (EMEA), and Latin America (LATAM). This move integrates Instacart’s technology with a network of over 100 retail partners, including Cencosud, SPAR, and Lulu.
The deal focuses on scaling the Instacart Platform globally. Instacart stated it will combine its existing retail technology, such as Caper Carts (AI-powered smart carts) and Carrot Ads (retail media), with Instaleap’s specialized fulfillment software. This integration aims to provide international retailers with a comprehensive suite of tools for online grocery management and in-store automation.
Following the Instacart Instaleap acquisition, the Latin America-based company will initially operate as a wholly-owned subsidiary. This structure is intended to maintain service continuity for Instaleap’s current partners while the companies begin technical integration. Instaleap has previously powered more than 100 million transactions, providing a proven infrastructure for Instacart’s global ambitions.
This acquisition marks a significant shift in Instacart's enterprise-led strategy for markets outside North America. By leveraging Instaleap’s established presence in dozens of countries, Instacart can deploy its Caper Carts and advertising solutions more rapidly to a global audience. The Instacart Instaleap acquisition positions the company to compete directly with local delivery and retail tech providers on a global scale.
